The Untold Sheppton Mine Rescue Story 43 years later

In August of 1963 a world famous mine rescue took place where two miners were rescued from over 300 ft under the earths surface Dave Fellin and Hank Throne but sadly a third miner Louis Bova was never recovered. The rescue team that accomplished this amazing rescue never got the due press at the time of the rescue I know because I Joe “Ronnie sando” was a member of that team. A lot of individuals that had hardly anything to do with the rescue took most of the credit they were always in front of the cameras and in the news papers. When we returned to our regular jobs with Sullivan trail coal company we were hurt that we did’nt receive much credit for the rescue it seemed no like no body cared about what a bunch of hard working men had to do on a daily basis to save the lives of these two miners but we were hard working, hard nosed coal miners and we put it behind us and went on with our lives. I’m only one of about two of the guys left from the rescue team and 43 yrs later I’m publishing a book I have written titled “THE SHEPPTON MINE RESCUE”  the untold story”THE BLOOD AND SWEAT OF THE RESCUE TEAM” that will tell our story along with 30 minutes of B&W actual footage of the rescue on a DVD narrated by me that will also have the song I wrote and recorded titled “The Sheppton Mine Rescue” on it that will be available in 2007. In memory of my fellow brothers I’m going to set up a trust fund and 50% of the proceeds will be available to decendants of or present coal miners children that need special help. It will be an honor for me through my book to give the rescue team the just credit due them. Remember the Sheppton mine rescue team set the presedence for modern day mine rescue or for a rescue of any type where a bore hole has to be drilled to extract people from the bowls of the earth we were the pathfinders.
